It’s been over 300 Years since the Infamous Pirate known as “BLACKBEARD” roamed this very region, the Wreck of the QUEEN ANNE’S REVENGE still lies off our Beaufort Inlet and her secrets are unfolding still. In 1747, Spanish Privateers invaded the very shores of Beaufort. Our coast is rich with actual pirate history! Starting Friday evening with our Captain’s Masquerade Ball and then, for two full days, AUGUST 9th,10th, & 11th 2019, you can step back in time with the sights and sounds of the 17th century as Beaufort comes alive with over a hundred pirate and militia reenactors as they overrun the town. Enjoy Living History demonstrations in our encampments located at The Beaufort Historical site on Turner Street and in Eury Park, across from Town Hall on 700th block of Front Street. Come see sights such as sword fighting, cannons firing and black powder weapons demonstrations and displays, a mock trial, and so much more.

This year, at the Beaufort Historic Site, we will also have a larger kids area and Eric’s Exotic Animals will headline that area. Our Vendors Alley will be on Front Street this year so ye don’t miss anything!

At The North Carolina Maritime Museum, come see the new Blackbeard/ QAR exhibit, which opened last June. See the dreaded pirate himself in his cabin writing in his ship log.  While there, pick up your BPI Most-Wanted Card and find all the pirates, and collect some BOOTY! Across the street, stop by the Watercraft Center and visit our West stage in the new Harborside Park for some lively entertainment. No telling what ye may find, but guaranteed family-oriented fun.

There will be activities for everyone young and old to enjoy throughout town, such as musical entertainment on our stages and streets.

At the Beaufort Historic site, we will have a kid’s area and Pirate school, storytelling, period encampment demonstrating 1700’s living history skills, wild animals exhibit, face painting and food and period clothing vendors. We even have a pirate horse this year. With wide eyes and amazement, aspiring young pirates and old will enjoy the spontaneous goings on as the nefarious characters roam the streets and shops, engaging in mock battles, bursting into song, posing for pictures.

On Front street, we will have vendors of all types including food, clothing, crafts, jewelry, and more! At the end of Vendors Alley on Pollock Street, stop by Eury Park which is the Invasion Site. You will find Blackbeard’s pirate camp here and our Black Powder Cannon/Gun line. Black Powder demonstrations will occur according to schedule throughout the weekend. Our Evening Parlays will be here also both nights after the events at the Main Stage are concluded. Come see a nighttime cannon demonstration as it lights up the night! Hang out with pirates and sing some sea shanties… And don’t forget the marshmallows! Parlay is a free event.

The event opens at 6 pm Friday evening with cannon-fire and a Captains Ball at our Main Stage (West Parking Lot), Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple so bring yer Mate and wear yer finest and compete in our costume contest for some cash booty prizes. Grog(non-alcoholic) and finger foods included. Local Breweries, restaurants, pubs are close for something a bit stronger.  Music, dancing, food, grog, and song…, after the Ball, stop by The Parlay at Eury Park at 9:30 pm.

On Saturday, cannons blaze and the event opens at 10am. Encampment and Vendors open for your enjoyment. At 4 pm, visit the Invasion Site at Grayden Paul Park and Eury Park, where we will recreate the Original Beaufort Pirate Invasion of 1960 at the original landing site with the reenactment(loosely) of The Spanish Attack of 1747. This in remembering the actual Spanish Attack of Beaufort in 1747 and the efforts to preserve our history by those who have served this cause before us.

Saturday morning will roar with cannon fire as we start the ‘YO HO HO and a bottle o’RUN’ 5K road race at 8:00 am. Race registration starts at 7:00 am and you can also register online. Pirates will be there to mock,….umm, cheer, you on!

Our annual ‘Parade of the Pirates’ starts at 9:45 am Saturday at the Beaufort Historic Site and ends at Town Hall where we raise our flag. Come join us!

Saturday evening our Buccaneer Revue and Dinner starts at 6:30 to 9 pm. Dinner and pirate themed variety show for the whole family.  Dinner provided by Fat Fella’s of Newport. Hot Dogs will also be available from Frank’s Franks. Tickets are $20 in Advance or $25 per person at door for dinner and show.

Sunday’s activities will start with a cannon salute at Noon and encampments, and performances will commence. Vendors open at 9 am. Battle is at 4 pm and will involve a ‘Gathering’ of pirates from across Time and Space. What happens,…well, it’s anybody guess…. And do not miss our Pirate Parlays at Eury Park both Friday and Saturday evenings from 9:30 pm till 11:00 pm or so…. Bring your chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy the singing and entertainment.
